Bullying: The effects of bullying, The characteristics of bullies and Types of bullying

Bullying

Bullying is a form of abuse directed by an individual or by a group of people toward an individual or a group of people that is usually weaker (often physically). Bullying is one of the actions that are repeated over time, as an example a strong boy attacks a weak boy.

Bullying can be an actual physical harassment, or other kinds of bullying for example manipulation. Bullying can be defined in many different ways; it is usually used to coerce others by fear. Bullying can be reduced if children learn social skills to interact successfully with the world.

The effects of bullying

Bullying effects can be very serious, sometimes it can lead to death. Experts said that children who are suffering from bullying are more at risk of mental disease and stress that may sometimes lead to suicide.

Victims of bullying may suffers from emotional and behavioral problems in the long term, because bullying may cause a feeling of loneliness, depression and anxiety that lead to a low self esteem.

The characteristics of bullies

Research indicates that adults’ bullies tend to have an authoritarian personalities and a strong need to control or dominate, and even that envy and resentment may be a reason for bullying, there is not enough evidence that bullies have a low self esteem, they are likely to be more proud and snooty. Bullying can be also a way to hide shame and anxiety or to promote self-esteem by insulting others

Types of bullying

  • Bullying in schools:

Bullying happens in all parts of school, it could happen in almost any part inside or around the perimeter of the school building, it happens more often in the halls of Physical Education, Baths, or Parking buses
  • Bullying in the workplace:

Unlike the form of bullying in schools, which comes more as a physical harm, the bullying at work often occurs within the established rules and policies of the organization and the community, this cause damages to the targeted employee morale in the workplace. This kind of bullying can be named “career assassination”
  • Internet bully:

The use of information and communication technologies like emails, cell phones, social networks to bully on people
